10 Days to a Less Defiant Child: The Breakthrough Program for Overcoming Your Child’s Difficult Behavior

Occasional clashes between parents and children are not uncommon, but when defiant behavior — such as tantrums, resistance to chores, and negativity — becomes chronic, it can cause big problems within the family. In 10 Days to a Less Defiant Child, child and family psychologist Dr. Jeff Bernstein has developed a ground-breaking 10-day program to help parents gain back control over their defiant child or teen. This powerful and exceptionally reader-friendly guide explains what causes defiance in kids, why it’s so destructive to the family, and shows parents step-by-step how they can end the behavior.

Simple-to-follow and extremely effective, 10 Days to a Less Defiant Child will bring much-needed relief to the millions of frustrated parents out there living with defiant children.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars I am a much happier parent!
I bought this book to help me with my fourth child. I am so happy I did! The author was very knowlegeable and very effective in translating his knowledge into a step-by-step format that was easy to implement. My daughter(8yo) has noticed a difference in me and her behavior is much easier to modify. Also, the author was compassionate towards parents and never talked critically. I appreciated not being made to feel any worse over the situation than I already did. I feel much more capable as a parent now and, although I have already read the book thru once, I am ready to start reading it again now that school will be starting back up soon. I think ALL parents should read this book. It will work no matter what kind of personality your child has.

5 Stars Life saver!
I bought this book along with the book “Your Defiant Teen: 10 Steps to Resolve Conflict and Rebuild Your Relationship by PhD Russell A. Barkley PhD ABPP ABCN. Its an even easier read and so informational. I’m using them both consecutively. I recommend them together.

5 Stars Helped children PAST the edge
My neice got her children after an 19 month custody battle, the kids were dirty and out of control and threw screamiing fits all day long, ages 6 and 4.

First she cleaned them up, taught them to eat from tables and plates, introduced structure with child care, took 60 days to reach that point.

Then they were still throwing huge out of control fits at her. ( like the dad)

So she asked for advice from dear auntie, I said “get expert advice” and sent her three books.

Report, ten days later all is on track, kids are minding, not screaming, and not throwing control fits and the dear neice has grown up and realised to be a parent you give kids what they need, not what they want. Love is not enough.

Dear niece called and thanked me today for helping her with good advice.

Have not read the book ,but am hearing good things with results. Be brave, do tough love.

5 Stars Best Parenting Book I’ve Ever Read!
This book completely changed how I relate to my grandchildren. The youngest WAS very difficult and argumentative. We are now communicating with love and respect!! I never would have believed this! This book works wonders!

5 Stars Probably the best book on this subject
Altho’ I am skeptical of titles that claim to work miracles in 10 days, I have to recommend this book. I borrowed a slew of books from the library on this topic and this one is the most direct,[so much so that I purchased my own copy). And his recommendations do work and quickly. However, one has to be prepared to change a lot about oneself. The ideas do work quickly but for the longterm they require a constant effort. Its worth it though, because the alternative is very expensive and not guaranteed.
